Những bài nghiên cứu này đa phần chỉ chỉ ra vấn đề, chứ không nêu rõ nguyên nhân tại sao lại dẫn đến tình trạng sống thử như hiện nay, hoặc nhìn việc sống thử đi song song với việc kết hôn. Bên cạnh đó cũng có những bài nghiên cứu nói về những lợi ích của việc sống thử, ví dụ như, việc sống thử sẽ giúp giảm chi phí sinh hoạt, vì khi chung sống thì cặp đôi sẽ chia sẻ tiền bạc với nhau, như vậy có thể tiết kiệm chi phí, hay thậm chí họ có thể có một khoản tiền để gửi về cho gia đình (Belanger and Tran 2011; P.A. Nguyen 2000). Đây cũng là một lí do có thể sử dụng khi nói về nguyên nhân dẫn đến tình trạng sống thử của sinh viên Việt nam hiện nay, nhưng ngoài lí do này còn có những lí do khác nữa mà trong nghiên cứu này không nhắc đến.

The majority of this research article is merely pointing out problems, rather than stating the cause why lead to present live test status, or look at the live test goes parallel with the marriage. The majority of this research indicate only the problem, but did not state why the situation led to the current cohabitation, or cohabitation going to look parallel to the marriage. Besides, the paper also talks about the benefits of cohabitation, for example, cohabitation will help reduce the cost of living, because the living, the couple will share the money together, as so can save money, or even that they can have some money to send home to family (Belanger and Tran 2011; PA Nguyen 2000).
