Sử dụng máy kéo liên hợp với máy phay hoặc bánh lồng và trục bùn. Tuỳ theo diện tích ruộng lớn hay nhỏ mà dùng máy kéo lớn (trên 50 HP), trung bình (20-35HP) hoặc nhỏ như máy xới tay (12-15HP), máy trục bùn tự hành hoặc phay lồng (6-12 HP).
Chú ý: Ruộng phải bằng phẳng, có hệ thống thoát nước tốt và không đọng nước.
