Theo Tổ chức Y tế thế giới bệnh lưu hành trên 100 quốc gia, mỗi năm có khoảng 100 triệu trường hợp mắc bệnh, phần lớn là trẻ em dưới 15 tuổi. Tại Việt Nam, bệnh xảy ra quanh năm nhưng thường bùng phát thành dịch lớn vào mùa mưa, nhất là vào các tháng 7, 8, 9, 10.Từ đầu năm 2014 đến ngày 11/07/2014, Việt Nam ghi nhận 12.313 trường hợp mắc bệnh SXH tại 42 tỉnh/thành phố, trong đó có 03 trường hợp tử vong tại Tp.Hồ Chí Minh. Số mắc và tử vong có nguy cơ sẽ tăng cao nếu không tích cực triển khai các biện pháp phòng, chống.

According to the World Health Organization disease circulating in more than 100 countries, each year there are about 100 million cases of the disease, most are children under 15 years of age. In Vietnam, the disease occurs throughout the year but often broke out into huge outbreaks in the rainy season, especially on the March 7, 8, 9, 10. From the beginning of 2014-11/07/2014, Vietnam recorded 12,313 cases diagnosed IT in 42 city, including 3 deaths in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The incidence and mortality risk will rise if not actively implemented measures for prevention.
