Thứ nhất, điều đáng quan tâm ở vụ kiện này là chúng ta chưa đáng giá đúng mức các cơ hội và thách thức của chính sách thương mại mà Hoa Kỳ dành cho Việt Nam. Bên cạnh đó, các doanh nghiệp và các cơ quan chức năng của Việt Nam vừa thiếu kinh nghiệm về tập quán kiện tụng, vừa thiếu hiểu biết về luật pháp quốc tế, lại thiếu ngoại ngữ đủ để ứng đối trong những vụ kiện quốc tế. Đây là những nhược điểm của chúng ta cần được bổ sung.
Thứ hai, Việt Nam chưa có sự hoàn chỉnh về luật pháp nhất là luật chống bán phá giá, bộ máy thực thi còn nhiều vấn đề cần được giải quyết trong khi luật pháp Hoa Kỳ lại tạo được các hàng rào bảo hộ cao.
Thứ ba, dưới góc độ tích cực, đây là bài học cảnh báo cho các doanh nghiệp Việt Nam khi bước ra thị trường thế giới. Các doanh nghiệp cần phải đoàn kết, liên kết lại với nhau thành các hiệp hội để có được tiếng nói chung, sức mạnh tập thể. Các hiệp hội và các cơ quan của chính phủ cần hỗ trợ các doanh nghiệp trong việc tìm hiểu thị trường, đăng ký nhãn hiệu.
Thứ tư, đối với các doanh nghiệp Việt Nam, vụ kiện cá basa còn là bài học cho việc tìm hiểu văn hoá kinh doanh khi thâm nhập vào thị trường mới. Sự khác biệt về văn hoá là một yếu tố cần đặc biệt chú ý tới khi các sản phẩm Việt Nam thâm nhập vào thị trường nước ngoài.
