Toàn bộ lãnh thổ Việt Nam được chia thành 7 vùng, (1) Vùng núi phía Bắc, (2) Đồng bằng sông Hồng, (3) Duyên hải Bắc Trung bộ, (4) Duyên hải Nam Trung Bộ (South Central Coast), (5) Tây Nguyên, (6) Đông Nam Bộ, (7) Đồng bằng sông Cửu Long. Vùng ‘Miền núi phía Bắc’ bao gồm 15 tỉnh như Bắc Giang, Thai Nguyên, Lào Cai, Yên Bái etc. và khu vực cao nguyên. Vùng đồng bằng sông Hồng là vùng đồng bằng phía Bắc bao gồm Hà Nội, Hải Phòng. Vùng duyên hải Bắc trung bộ bao gồm Thanh hóa, Nghệ An, Hà Tĩnh, Quảng Trị, Quảng Nam và duyên hải Nam trung bộ có Ninh Thuận, Bình Thuận. Vùng Tây Nguyên giáo với biên giới Campuchia bao gồm 5 tỉnh Đắc Lắc, Lâm Đồng etc. Đi về phía Nam thì vùng Đông nam bộ bao gồm thành phố Hồ Chí Minh và các tỉnh xung quanh, ở cuối phía Nam vùng đồng bằng sông Cửu Long bao gồm các tỉnh An Giang, Đồng Tháp etc.
