Trong sự nghiệp phát triển kinh tế xã hội của các quốc gia trên thế giới và ở Việt Nam, thì lạm phát là một vấn đề đáng quan tâm bởi tác động của nó đối với sự nghiệp phát triển kinh tế. Là một trong những chỉ tiêu đánh giá trình độ phát triển kinh tế của một quốc gia nhưng cũng là một trong những trở ngại lớn nhất trong công cuộc phát triển đất nước. Càng ngày, cùng với sự phát triển đa dạng phong phú của nền kinh tế thì nguyên nhân dẫn đến lạm phát cũng ngày càng trở nên phức tạp hơn.
