2. Những hoạt động bên ngoài và phát triển kỹ năng
 Trong môi trường PetroVietnam, những cán bộ quản lý và nhân viên cùng chia sẻ tránh nhiệm giữ cho tổ chức tránh khỏi những rắc rối nảy sinh hay những mâu thuẫn về lợi ích do các hoạt động bên ngoài PetroVietnam đem đến. Cụ thể, mọi nhân viên khi tham gia các hoạt động xã hội, văn hoá, thể thao, nhất định phải tuân theo những nghĩa vụ rõ ràng và thực hiện một sự thận trọng cần thiết, với việc phân bổ thời gian hợp lý để tránh dẫn đến những rắc rối, ảnh hưởng cho Tập đoàn.
 PetroVietnam khuyến khích cán bộ nhân viên học tập, trau dồi kiến thức nhằm nâng cao kiến thức chuyên môn và trình độ nghiệp vụ, bảo đảm việc tuân thủ quy định pháp luật và các quy định của Tập đoàn. Tương tự như vậy, Tập đoàn khuyến khích cán bộ nhân viên tham gia những hoạt động bên ngoài mang lại lợi ích cho PetroVietnam hoặc làm phát triển thêm những kinh nghiệm chuyên nghiệp và kỹ năng của nhân viên, xây dựng hình ảnh xã hội của Tập đoàn.
