* Trong ứng đối với cộng đồng:
+ Khi vào nhà không được đi thẳng một mạch từ (cầu thang lên nhà) đầu nhà vào bếp trong (thường có 2 bếp, 1 bếp ngoài dành cho khách).
+ Không ngồi vào cửa móng ( cửa sổ gian tiếp khách)
+ Không ngồi ngay vào đệm ngồi khi chủ nhà ch­a mời ( thường dành cho bề trên và khách quý).
+ Không ngồi dạng chân (thiếu mỹ quan)
- Khi ngồi cạnh bếp lửa cần lưu ý:
+ Không được dùng chân đẩy củi vào bếp
+ Không được đưa ngược ngọn tre, luồng, cây củi và bếp (quan niệm đẻ ngược).
+ Không nướng cơm đồ ( xôi) vì quan niệm mất mùa
- Khi đi ngủ cần lưu ý:
+ Không nằm ngủ dọc theo đòn nóc nhà ( chỉ người chết mới được nằm như vậy)
+ Không nên mắc màn trắng vì lộ liễu
+ Không ngủ dậy quá muộn
+ Không được ngủ dưới bàn thờ
- Khi tiếp xúc với dân cần chú ý:
+ Cần tránh từ kiêng, từ miệt thị dân tộc (Ví dụ như: dân tộc Mèo, Mán là tên gọi trước kia chỉ dân tộc Mông, Dao)
+ Không nên nói quá to với cử chỉ gay gắt
+ Không tranh cãi với người già, phụ nữ và trẻ em
+ Không xoa đầu trẻ em
- Khi ngồi ăn cơm cần chú ý:
+ Không ngồi ngang hàng với người già nhất trong mâm (nếu chủ nhà không mời)
+ Không ngồi trước và quay lưng vào bàn thờ
+ Không gắp đầu gà chân gà, gan gà trước khi chủ nhà mời (thường để chung một đĩa với dụng ý để khách chứng kiến lòng thành của chủ nhà)
+ Khi ăn không nên vừa ăn vừa nói quá to
- Khi vui chơi cũng cần lưu ý:

Ngoài ra, còn một số điều kiêng kỵ khác trong các nghi lễ như chọn đất làm nương rẫy, chọn ngày dựng nhà, chọn ngày cưới hỏi vợ chồng, kiêng cữ khi phụ nữ mới sinh, trong nhà có người mất hay các nghi thức cúng bái khác trong sinh hoạt cộng đồng.
