Theo Báo cáo đánh giá nghèo Việt Nam năm 2012 của Ngân hàng thế giới (WB), hơn 30 triệu người Việt Nam đã thoát khỏi đói nghèo trong hai thập kỷ qua. Nghèo đói ở Việt Nam đã giảm nhanh chóng từ 60% hồi đầu những năm 1990 xuống còn 20,7%;
