Khi so sánh học thuyết quản trị phương Đông và quản trị phương Tây đều giống nhau ở chỗ: các học thuyết này đều xoay quanh việc điều chỉnh hành vi của con người, lấy con người là trọng tâm của mọi lý thuyết. Mỗi học thuyết đều cố gắng phân tích để "nhìn rõ" bản chất con người để đưa ra những phương pháp điều chỉnh phù hợp. Các học thuyết còn giống nhau ở điểm là cố gắng tạo ra sự công bằng trong đánh giá, xử phạt, bằng các hệ thống chính sách khen, thưởng, kỷ luật của mình.

Sự khác biệt giữa học thuyết quản trị phương Đông và phương Tây là ở chỗ: Phương Tây lấy hiệu quả công việc làm mục tiêu, các học thuyết phương Đông thì đề cao "Đức" và "Tâm" của con người hơn.
