Cùng với việc duy trì tốc độ tăng trưởng GDP, cơ cấu kinh tế trong nước của Việt Nam đã có sự thay đổi đáng kể. Từ năm 1990 đến 2007, tỷ trọng của khu vực nông-lâm nghiệp thủy sản đã giảm từ 38,7% xuống dưới 20% GDP, nhường chỗ cho sự tăng lên về tỷ trọng của khu vực công nghiệp và xây dựng từ 22,7% lên 41,7%, còn khu vực dịch vụ được duy trì ở mức gần như không thay đổi: 38,6% năm 1990 và 38,3% năm 2007. Trong từng nhóm ngành, cơ cấu cũng có sự thay đổi tích cực. Trong cơ cấu công nghiệp, tỷ trọng của ngành công nghiệp chế biến tăng, chất lượng sản phẩm ngày càng được nâng cao. Cơ cấu của khu vực dịch vụ thay đổi theo hướng tăng nhanh tỷ trọng của các ngành dịch vụ có chất lượng cao như tài chính, ngân hàng, bảo hiểm, du lịch…

Along with maintaining the growth rate of the GDP, the economic structure in the country of Vietnam have had significant changes. From 1990 to 2007, the proportion of the area of agroforestry and aquaculture products fell from 38.7% to below 20% of GDP, in favour of the increase of the proportion of industrial and construction area from 22.7% to 41.7%, while the service sector is maintained at a level almost unchanged: 38.6% in 1990 and 38.3% in 2007. In each of the industry groups, the structure also has a positive change. In the industrial structure, the proportion of the processing industry, quality products are advanced. The structure of the service sector shift towards increased the proportion of the service industry of high quality such as finance, banking, insurance, travel ...
