BIDV đã xây dựng hệ thống chính sách và các quy định đầy đủ, đồng bộ trên tất cả các mặt hoạt động, bao gồm nhưng không giới hạn các quy định về quản lý rủi ro tín dụng, rủi ro thanh khoản, rủi ro thị trường và tác nghiệp nhằm thống nhất triển khai trong toàn hệ thống ngân hàng BIDV. Chính sách và các quy định được định kỳ rà soát, sửa đổi phù hợp yêu cầu thực tế. Ngoài ra, BIDV thường xuyên ban hành các văn bản, ấn phẩm hỗ trợ Chi nhánh trong công tác nhận diện, phòng ngừa và giảm thiểu rủi ro trong quá trình tác nghiệp (Bản tin Rủi ro tác nghiệp và Phòng chống rửa tiền và các Công văn cảnh báo rủi ro trên các mặt nghiệp vụ). Trường hợp đối với những chi nhánh/những khu vực có tính đặc thù hoặc trong từng giai đoạn cụ thể, BIDV có thể ban hành các chính sách, quy định riêng áp dụng cho các chi nhánh, khu vực đó nhưng phải đảm bảo không vi phạm các quy định của pháp luật Việt Nam và chính sách chung của BIDV. Việc kiểm soát việc thực hiện các chính sách, quy định nội bộ của BIDV được thực hiện qua các Ban nghiệp vụ tại Hội sở chính theo ngành dọc đến các chi nhánh. Ngoài ra bộ phận kiểm tra, giám sát nội bộvà bộ phận kiểm toán nội bộ thực hiện công tác kiểm tra, giám sát độc lập việc tuân thủ các chính sách, quy định nêu trên.
