Trong vài tháng gần đây, một dự luật ở Mỹ đã đề nghị việc bãi bỏ quyền kiện cáo của người tiêu dùng với các sản phẩm không có logo Energy Star. Trước đây, nếu sản phẩm điện tử không có logo này thì nhà sản xuất sẽ bị kiện do không thông báo lượng điện năng tiết kiệm được. Nhiều khả năng đạo luật này có thể được thêm vào như là một sửa đổi của Đạo luật Hiện đại hóa chính sách năng lượng năm 2015 đã được thảo luận tại Ủy ban Thượng viện Mỹ về tài nguyên năng lượng & tự nhiên.
