Từ 01/07/2010 đến 30/12/2011, có 213 BN đã được phẩu thuật bụng nhập khoa săn sóc đặc biệt bệnh viện Bình Dân, được chia thành 2 nhóm: nhóm 1: 63 bệnh nhân viêm phổi bệnh viện (29,6%); và nhóm 2: 150 bệnh nhân không viêm phổi bệnh viện (70,4%). Trong 63 bệnh nhân viêm phổi bệnh viện, thời gian khởi phát viêm phổi bệnh viện trung bình: 7 ± 2,4 ngày; có 8 TH có thời gian khởi phát viêm phổi bệnh viện sớm (chiếm 12,7%) và 55 trường hợp khởi phát viêm phổi bệnh viện muộn (chiếm 87,3%).
