Mạng điện tử tiêu tốn khá nhiều thời gian và tiền bạc của Internet users. Ngoài chi phí đầu tư để mua máy tính và các thiết bị kết nối mạng, người sử dụng phải chi trả một khoản tiền không nhỏ để chi trả cước dùng mỗi tháng.
Bên cạnh đó, mạng điện tử cũng không an toàn tuyệt đối, ngoài chuyện virus, còn có thư rác, rò rỉ thông tin cá nhân, hay gặp những tai nạn không mong muốn như mạng bị lỗi, hacker phá hoại…gây nhiều phiền toái.
Ở Việt Nam cũng có nhiều bằng chứng cho thấy Internet là môi trường nuôi dưỡng sự cực đoan: Thường xuyên bùng nổ lên những cuộc tranh cãi (ngôn ngữ mạng gọi là “ném đá”) trên các trang mạng xã hội như Fb, Instag, zalo...với vô số nhận xét chủ quan, gay gắt, những lời lẽ thiếu sự tôn trọng lẫn nhau.
