Kết quả nghiên cứu của đề tài đã nhận dạng được 04 loại thị trường đang gặp phải những hiện tượng thất bại của thị trường, bao gồm: Thị trường tư liệu sản xuất; Thị trường vốn; Thị trường thịt heo và Thị trường hàng hoá dịch vụ công. Đề tài cũng đã định danh và phân tích rõ nguyên nhân của các dạng thất bại chủ yếu của thị trường giết mổ, vận chuyển, kinh doanh thịt heo hiện nay, bao gồm các dạng: Thất bại do hiện tượng độc quyền về tư liệu sản xuất; Thất bại do tác động tiêu cực từ yếu tố ngoại lai; Thất bại do sự khiếm khuyết của thị trường vốn sự thiếu vắng của thị trường bảo hiểm; Thất bại do thông tin phi đối xứng và Thất bại trong việc cung cấp hàng hoá – dịch vụ công. Trong đó, cho thấy thất bại trong việc cung cấp hàng hoá – dịch vụ công là thất bại nặng nề và ảnh hưởng rộng nhất đối với thị trường giết mổ, vận chuyển và kinh doanh thịt heo an toàn hiện nay.
