hòa giải là quá trình bên trung lập thứ 3 tạo điều kiện cho một cuộc đàm phán giữa các bên tranh chấp. người hòa giải không được liên kết với 1 bên hay ủng hộ bên nào. Vai trò của trung gian là hướng dẫn các bên hướng tới cách giải quyết của riêng mình. Hòa giải sẽ giúp các bên xác định vấn đề rõ ràng, hiểu rõ vị trí và hướng tới giải pháp.
