Sharecropping is a system in which a landowner allows a person to use the land in Exchange for a share of the crops produced on agricultural land. Sharecropping was created to help African and South American farmers earn a living, although it was not fair to the sharecroppers and put most of them in debt. Since the sharecroppers were often illiterate, land owners were able to trick them into thinking they own more than they did. . While sharecropping give freedom of African-Americans in their daily work and their social lives, it leads to owning more money to landowners than they can pay. For example, the cost of tools and equipment was greater than the amount they do that makes them borrow money from owners of their land. The owners then were able to keep workers on the same ground to do similar work. In some works, the sharecropping system simply replace the evil organization of slavery. Sharecroppers lived in shacks around plantation in which they work. Their house was small and damaged.
