Oprah cũng thành lập công ty riêng mang tên Harpo, và nó sớm trở thành “thế lực đáng gờm” trong sản xuất phim ảnh và truyền hình. Tháng 10/1988, Harpo Production Inc. giành lại quyền sản xuất “Oprah Winfrey Show” từ tập đoàn Capitol Cities/ABC. Oprah Winfrey trở thành người phụ nữ đầu tiên trong lịch sử sở hữu và sản xuất talkshow của riêng mình. Sau đó, ngày 25/5/2011, cô chính thức chia tay chương trình.
