Theo số liệu thống kê của Tổng cục Hải quan Việt Nam, xuất nhập khẩu hàng hóa giữa Việt Nam và Nhật Bản trong 10 năm trở lại đây luôn đạt mức tăng trưởng cao, bình quân mỗi năm tăng trưởng 13,9%. Năm 2006 thương mại hai chiều đạt mức 9,93 tỷ USD, chiếm 11,7% tổng kim ngạch xuất nhập khẩu của cả nước thì đến năm 2015 đã tăng gấp gần 3 lần, đạt kim ngạch 28,49 tỷ USD, chiếm 8,7% trong tổng kim ngạch xuất nhập khẩu của cả nước.

According to statistics of the General Department of Vietnam customs, import and export of goods between Vietnam and Japan in 10 years, consistently high growth rates, the average 13.9% growth per year. Two-way trade in 2006 reached 9.93 billion, accounting for 11.7% of total import-export turnover of the country until the year 2015 has increased almost three times, gaining 28.49 billion turnover, accounting for 8.7% of the total import-export turnover of the country.
