Trong đời sống hàng ngày, lạm phát là một trong những vấn đề của kinh tế học vĩ mô. Nó đã trở thành mối quan tâm lớn của các nhà chính trị và công chúng. Lạm phát dã được đề cập rất nhiều trong các công trình nghiên cứu của các nhà kinh tế . Để triển khai thực hiện thắng lợi nghị quyết Đại hội lần thứ IX của Đảng, cần phải động viên mọi nguồn lực tạo nên sức mạnh tổng hợp nhằm đẩy mạnh công nghiệp hoá, hiện đại hoá đất nước vì mục tiêu dân giàu, nước mạnh, xã hội công bằng, dân chủ, văn minh. Tăng trưởng bền vững và ổn định lạm phát ở mức thấp đó là những mục tiêu hàng đầu của điều tiết vĩ mô ở tất cả các nước. Không có gì đáng ngạc nhiên khi câu hỏi có sự tồn tại và bản chất của mối quan hệ giữa lạm phát và tăng trưởng kinh tế đã được các nhà kinh tế hoạch định chính sách đặc biệt quan tâm và trở thành trung tâm của nhiều cuộc tranh luận về chính sách. Chính vì những tác hại to lớn do lạm phát gây ra cho nền kinh tế mà việc nghiên cứu lạm phát là ọt vấn đề cần thiết và cấp bách đối với nền kinh tế đặc biệt là nền kinh tế thị trường còn non nớt như nền kinh tế ở nước ta. Chúng ta cần phải tìm hiểu xem lạm phát lá gì ? Do đâu mà có lạm phát ? Tại sao người ta lại quan tâm đến lạm phát? Bài viết này sẽ điểm lại một cách có hệ thống các lý thuyết, các bằng chứng thực nghiệm về lạm phát và mối quan hệ giữa lạm phát và tăng trưởng kinh tế cũng như đưa ra một số gợi ý về hướng điều tiết vĩ mô của Việt Nam trong thời gian tới. Do khả năng và điều kiện thời gian hạn chế, chắc rằng trong bài viết không tránh khỏi thiếu sót. Em rất mong được cô xem xét và phê bình để em có thể có bài viết tốt
