No matter how long you've been job hunting, you don't want to appear desperate. Don't volunteer sentiments such as "I will do anything here" or "I can start immediately," says Jill Jacinto, managing editor and associate director of editorial communications for career site WORKS. She adds, "Also, someone who applies for multiple positions within the company shows they will take any sort of table scraps, not because the job is actually right for them."Indicating you interview frequently can backfire too. "You don't want to make it seem like you're only depending on them, but nobody wants to hear you're shopping your resume around and not getting any bites," Jacinto says.Say this instead: Jacinto suggests that to avoid overeagerness, say "I'm always on the lookout for an opportunity and this one is in line with my skills."
