Một báo cáo mới đây của tổ chức nông lương liên hợp quốc được công bố vào hôm 12/06/2013 cho biết việt nam là một trong những quốc gia dẫn đầu trong những quốc gia dẫn đầu về việc thực hiện tốt các mục tiêu toàn cầu về xóa đói giảm nghèo
Theo báo cáo này, 38 quốc gia đã hoàn thành mục tiêu xóa đói giảm nghèo , đặc biệt là giảm tỉ lệ nghèo đói vào năm 2015. Riêng việt nam đã đạt được mục tiêu giảm 50% tỉ lệ suy dinh dưỡng giai đoạn từ 1990-1992 và từ 2010-2012 . Tổng giám đốc của Fao Jose grazia đã đánh giá cao sự thành công của việt nam và các nước và khẳng định rằng thành công này sẽ giúp các nước tiến tới một tương lai tốt đẹp hơn. Tuy vậy , báo cáo của fao cho biết dù số người nghèo đói trên toàn thế giới đã giảm trong một thập niên qua , thế giới vẫn còn đến 870 triệu người suy dinh dưỡng và hàng triệu người khác thiếu vitamin và khoáng chất cần thiết cho cơ thể (14/06/2013)
