Việc thi công dầm cầu cạn được chia thành 3 mũi thi công (với 3 giá lao dầm) tại 3 địa điểm là phường Thảo Điền, quận 2; phường Trường Thọ và phường Linh Trung, quận Thủ Đức.Các đốt dầm có mặt cắt hình chữ U đã được đúc sẵn ở bãi đúc quận 9 (tổng cộng 4.536 đốt) rồi vận chuyển ra công trường bằng xe tải chuyên dụng. Mỗi nhịp gồm 13 đốt dầm sẽ được treo trên hệ đà giáo di động và ghép thành một nhịp cầu hoàn chỉnh. Các đốt dầm được liên kết vĩnh cửu với nhau bởi khóa chống cắt, keo epoxy và cáp dự ứng lực dọc theo dầm.
