We used the Maya Design tailor to have four skirts made. I looked around at quite a few tailors and assessed the quality of the work based on the quality of the men's suits on display. Maya was a smaller shop but seemed to have better quality work. When I compared the prices they were cheaper than the larger shops.

We had two skirts made that were copied from skirts that we had. Both of these skirts were replicated exactly. We then also designed two more skirts with the help of the shop assistant and taking examples from dresses in the shop. The assistant was able to tell us which fabric would be better for which design. She made the skirts exactly as we had described. The skirts have been made very well, with good quality zips, and very nice fabric (two skirts were heavy silk).

Kity was the shop assistant that helped us. She was very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. She had very good English. She was happy to make any alterations that were needed after the first fitting. She also made sure that the skirts would be made before we had to leave Hoi An. We were able to pay in Dong, US dollars, or by credit card (3% surcharge). I will definitely be coming back to Hoi An and having many more things made by Maya!
