Nhiều Quỹ phát triển cộng đồng (PTCĐ) đã được thành lập và hoạt động ở Việt Nam với nhiều tên gọi khác nhau. Các quỹ PTCĐ khác nhau ở nhiều điểm như tổ chức bộ máy quản lý, nguồn vốn, nội dung hoạt động, vai trò cộng đồng. Nếu căn cứ theo cấp quản lý quỹ thì có thể phân chia các quỹ PTCĐ thành một số mô hình như sau:
