Phát biểu nhân dịp này, Công sứ Trần Quang Tuyến cho biết, đây là lần đầu tiên các “Góc sách Việt Nam” được mở và khai trương tại Ấn Độ, với mục đích nhằm tăng cường giao lưu văn hóa và hiểu biết lẫn nhau giữa nhân dân hai nước cũng như đáp ứng nhu cầu nghiên cứu sinh, sinh viên, qua đó làm cầu nối để thúc đẩy quan hệ hợp tác song phương trong lĩnh vực văn hóa – 1 trong 5 trụ cột của quan hệ Đối tác chiến lược Việt - Ấn.
Ông Trần Quang Tuyến cảm ơn lãnh đạo Thư viện quốc gia, Đại học Jadavpur và ban lãnh đạo Ủy ban đoàn kết Ấn Độ - Việt Nam bang Tây Bengal đã tích cực hỗ trợ, tạo điều kiện để mở các “Góc sách Việt Nam”, đồng thời bày tỏ hy vọng quan hệ hợp tác giữa hai nước sẽ được thúc đẩy mạnh mẽ trong thời gian tới.
Các “Góc sách Việt Nam” với khoảng hơn 600 đầu sách các loại giới thiệu về lịch sử, văn hóa, danh lam thắng cảnh cùng với những thành tựu của công cuộc đổi mới và phát triển kinh tế xã hội được xuất bản bằng tiếng Anh đã cung cấp cho bạn đọc một bức tranh tương đối tổng thể về đất nước và con người Việt Nam.
Sách sẽ là công cụ góp phần thúc đẩy nghiên cứu, tìm hiểu của giới trẻ Ấn Độ về lịch sử và văn hóa Việt Nam, qua đó tăng cường quan hệ hợp tác đối tác chiến lược giữa hai nước.
Ngoài một số sách do Ủy ban đoàn kết Ấn Độ - Việt Nam bang Tây Bengal sưu tầm, các bộ sách trên chủ yếu được Cục Xuất bản, In và Phát hành thuộc Bộ Thông tin và Truyền thông và Đại sứ quán Việt Nam tại Ấn Độ trao tặng.
