Điều dưỡng tại các khoa lâm sàng của bệnh viện sẽ trả lời các câu hỏi (tự điền) vào phiếu điều tra được phát.
Các điều dưỡng tham gia nghiên cứu được giải thích về mục tiêu của nghiên cứu, tự điền vào bộ phiếu điều tra, không cần ghi và ký tên vào phiếu điều tra.
Điều tra viên là tác giả nghiên cứu phát phiếu điều tra đến từng đối tượng nghiên cứu, giải thích rõ các thắc mắc của người tham gia nghiên cứu và nhắc nhở không để người tham gia nghiên cứu trao đổi thông tin với nhau. Khi người tham gia nghiên cứu nộp phiếu điều tra, điều tra viên kiểm tra xem phiếu đã được điền đầy đủ chưa. Những trường hợp còn thiếu, điều tra viên yêu cầu người tham gia bổ sung đầy đủ.
Thu thập các số liệu thứ cấp của bệnh viện về số lượng điều dưỡng, phân công trách nhiệm, thông tin về khen thưởng…
