Nếu công việc quan trọng, không thuộc phạm vi giải quyết của Thư ký thì Thư ký phải xin ý kiến Thủ trưởng và cho gặp Thủ trưởng khi đã được Thủ trưởng đồng ý. Thường thì công việc quan trọng Thủ trưởng là người giải quyết nhưng phải có sự hỗ trợ đắc lực của người Thư ký.
