I would like to apply for the temporary part-time position of Library Officer - Children and Youth Serivces that was advertised on the website of Maribyrnong City Council.

I have a Master of Information Technology (Library and Information Science) which is accredited by the Australian Library and Information Association (See a copy of my qualification attached). I have seven years’ experience of working as a reference and liaison librarian and information literacy co-ordinator in the Information Services Department of a university’s learning resource centre setting. I am also quite familiar with public library services as I have done my one-hundred-hour practical placement in Springvale Library.

With five years working at the reference and circulation desks where I answered all sorts of users’ enquiries, I have developed excellent customer service skills. I had to cope with many challenging customers and I learnt to resolve them in a professional and timely manner. I have high-level information searching skills and adequate computer literacy which have been demonstrated through extensive experience providing individual consolation in information research and assisting in information research and retrieval and teaching information skills modules.
