Công ty không tổ chức nấu ăn mà đặt suất ăn công nghiệp để phục vụ công nhân viên. Do đó, nước thải sinh hoạt chỉ phát sinh từ hoạt động vệ sinh cá nhân của công nhân viên trong nhà máy, thành phần gây ô nhiễm chính trong nước thải sinh hoạt là các chất hữu cơ dạng lơ lửng và hòa tan, chất rắn lơ lửng, các chất dinh dưỡng (N,P) và các loại vi khuẩn gây bệnh.
Theo dự án, số cán bộ, công nhân viên lao động thường xuyên trong giai đoạn hoạt động ổn định của dự án là 11 người. Tổng lượng nước sử dụng cho nhu cầu ăn uống và sinh hoạt của công nhân viên là 1,3 m3/ngày.
Tổng lượng nước thải ra mỗi ngày được tính toán như sau:
Qt (sh) = 100% ×1,3 m3/ngày = 1,3 m3/ngày
Nước thải sinh hoạt là một trong những nguyên nhân chính ảnh hưởng đến chất lượng nước mặt khu vực xung quanh. Nước thải sinh hoạt chứa nhiều chất hữu cơ dễ phân hủy, chứa lượng lớn các khuẩn Coliform và các vi khuẩn gây bệnh khác. Nước thải không được xử lý có thể là nguồn gây bệnh truyền nhiễm đối với cộng đồng dân cư sống trong khu vực thông qua việc sử dụng nguồn nước bị ô nhiễm. Ngoài ra, nước thải sinh hoạt cũng là nguyên nhân gây ô nhiễm môi trường đất và ảnh hưởng đến chất lượng nước ngầm.
