Theo số liệu năm 2012 thì có 60 triệu 420 người chiếm 68.1% toàn bộ dân số (88.720.000 person) đang sinh sống ở nông thôn. Nếu xét về cơ cấu ngành nghề thi năm 2006 số hộ làm nông là 71.1% tuy giảm xuống còn 62% vào năm 2011 nhưng có thể thấy số hộ nông nghiệp vẫn tương đối lớn. Ngược lại số hộ theo đuổi ngành công nghiệp cấp 2 và ngành dịch vụ lại tăng tư 25.1% năm 2006 lên 33.2% năm 2011.
