Thực hiện Chương trình hành động của Thành ủy thực hiện Nghị quyết số 26 ngày 5 tháng 8 năm 2008 tại Hội nghị lần thứ 7 của Ban Chấp hành TW khóa X, về nông nghiệp, nông dân, nông thôn và thực hiện chương trình 43 của Thành ủy. Trong những năm qua, Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh luôn có sự quan tâm đặc biệt cho việc phát triển nông nghiệp, nông thôn, và chăm lo đời sống cho nông dân với nhiều chương trình, đề án như xây dựng nông thôn mới và chuyển dịch cơ cấu nông nghiệp nông nghiệp đô thị trên địa bàn thành phố; quy hoạch vùng nông nghiệp ứng dụng công nghệ cao, phát triển các kênh phân phối, tiêu thụ để hỗ trợ đầu ra cho bà con nông dân.
