Những hoạt động phong phú trong việc tuyên truyền về truyền thống tốt đẹp của hai nước, nhất là nhân dịp kỉ niệm những ngày lễ lớn của hai nước, đặc biệt là trong năm 2002 và năm 2007, Liên hiệp các tổ chức hữu nghị của Việt Nam, Hội hữu nghị Việt Nam – Lào đã tổ chức những hoạt động phong phú như: mít-tinh, giao lưu hữu nghị giữa nhân dân, thanh thiếu niên, sinh viên Việt Nam – Lào, thi đấu thể thao hữu nghị, triển lãm tranh ảnh, tổ chức thanh niên tình nguyện, thi tòm hiểu về đất nước, con người của hai nước dưới nhiều chủ đề: Việt – Lào trong trái tim tôi; Thăng Long – Hà Nội: điểm hẹn của bạn; Liên hoan giai điệu hòa bình hữu nghị; đi bộ vì hòa bình; du xuân hữu nghị, hội trại
