Điều đáng lo ngại là Chính phủ tài trợ xây dựng nhà ở xã hội mỗi năm với tốc độ rất ấn tượng, 124000 đơn vị chỉ trong năm 2011 với chi phí lên đến 13,5 tỷ euro. Trong khi, số lượng các ngôi nhà bỏ trống tại Paris hiện nay lại tương đương với số lượng nhà ở được xây dựng giữa 8 - 16 năm với tổng vốn đầu tư đến 200 tỷ euro. Vậy tại sao lại có tình trạng này? Câu trả lời không phải đơn giản chỉ là chính quyền thành phố trưng dụng mọi tài sản, nhà cửa có sẵn để chuyển đổi sang nhà ở xã hội, cho dù vị trí và tính chất của ngôi nhà trống là không phù hợp và thiếu những điều kiện cần thiết để thêm vào việc thâm hụt nhà ở. Những con số đã chứng minh rằng cuộc khủng hoảng nhà ở tại Paris không chỉ là do thiếu tài sản mà còn là một thị trường bất động sản suy chức năng.

Worrying thing is Government funding of social housing construction each year with impressive speed, 124000 units only in 2011 at a cost of up to 13.5 billion euros. While, the number of vacant homes in Paris now back equal to the number of houses built between 8-15 years with total investment up to 200 billion euros. So why is there this situation? The answer is not simply a city government acquired all assets, homes are available to convert to social housing, although the location and nature of the empty House is inconsistent and lacks the necessary conditions to add to the housing deficit.
