Theo báo cáo khảo sát tình hình giết mổ trên địa bàn Đồng Nai năm 2010 của Chi cục Thú y (2010) thì toàn tỉnh có 177 cơ sở giết mổ Heo đang hoạt động. Tuy nhiên do tỉnh Đồng Nai có địa bàn quá rộng, cơ sở giết mổ lại rãi rác, manh mún, tồn tại nhiều cơ sở giết mổ theo hình thức thủ công, qui mô nhỏ lẻ mang tính tự phát, công suất chỉ khoảng 1-3 con/đêm , trong phạm vi có thể, đề tài chỉ thực hiện 50 mẫu điều tra, và tập trung chủ yếu vào đối tượng giết mổ nhỏ lẽ.
