Theo quyết định tại Đại hội đồng đồng Cổ đông ngày 17/04/2015, Chiến lược của BIDV giai đoạn 2011-2015 và tầm nhìn đến 2020 là phấn đấu trở thành 1 trong 20 Ngân hàng hiện đại có chất lượng, hiệu quả và uy tín hàng đầu trong khu vực Đông Nam Á vào năm 2020. Trong đó chú trọng đến 03 khâu đột phá chiến lược là:
- Hoàn thiện mô hình tổ chức chuyên nghiệp, hiệu quả, các quy trình nghiệp vụ, quy chế quản trị điều hành, phân cấp ủy quyền và phối hợp giữa các đơn vị hướng đến sản phẩm và khách hàng theo thông lệ quốc tế tốt nhất.
- Phát triển nhanh nguồn nhân lực chất lượng cao dựa trên sử dụng và phát triển đội ngũ chuyên gia trong nước và quốc tế làm lực lượng nòng cốt phát triển ổn định và bền vững.
- Nâng cao năng lực khai thác, ứng dụng công nghệ trong hoạt động kinh doanh ngân hàng tạo khâu đột phá giải phóng sức lao động, tăng tính lan tỏa của khoa học công nghệ tới mọi hoạt động kinh doanh của BIDV.
Trong giai đoạn cuối 2016 BIDV sẽ tiếp tục tập trung hoàn thành 10 mục tiêu ưu tiên đã xây dựng trong kế hoạch 5 năm , trong đó có phát triển hoạt động ngân hàng bán lẻ, nắm giữ thị phần lớn về dư nợ tín dụng, huy động vốn và dịch vụ bán lẻ. Mục tiêu này hàm ý rằng BIDV sẽ phải nâng cao tín dụng cá nhân để cạnh tranh với các ngân hàng khác.
Dựa trên định hướng chung trên của hội sở chính, chi nhánh đã thực hiện định hướng thống nhất với mục tiêu chung, đồng thời thực hiện những mục tiêu riêng có của mình.
