Học đường là nơi gửi gắm niềm tin của mọi thế hệ, của mọi gia đình, của cả dân tộc.
Học đường đã trải qua nhiều giai đoạn lịch sử, đã sản sinh ra nhiều nhân tài, nhiều bác học, nhiều nhà khoa học tầm quốc gia và quốc tế.
Bước vào thời kỳ toàn cầu hoá và hội nhập quốc tế, học đường Việt Nam đã từng bước hội nhập sâu rộng với học đường quốc tế.
Quá trình phát triển của học đường Việt Nam cũng đã xuất hiện nhiều vấn đề phức tạp ảnh hưởng đến mục tiêu của hệ thống giáo dục đào tạo, trước hết là chất lượng giáo dục. Hiện tượng học sinh bỏ học, bạo lực học đường ngày càng gia tăng. Tất cả các vấn đề đó đang đặt ra nhiệm vụ cấp bách của công tác xã hội (CTXH) học đường. Với chức năng và nhiệm vụ của mình, CTXH cần can thiệp góp phần giải quyết những vấn đề nói trên góp phần thực hiện mục tiêu của nền giáo dục hiện nay, đem lại công bằng, bình đẳng và dân chủ trong học đường.
