Đối với phương pháp định tính, thông qua hình thức thảo luận nhóm, phương pháp chuyên gia và phương pháp phỏng vấn sâu để thu thập phân tích và đánh giá những thông tin cần quan tâm của đề tài. Trong đó, phương pháp phỏng vấn sâu được áp dụng trong quá trình nghiên cứu để qua đó nắm được những thông tin mang tính hai chiều “đến” và “từ” những tác nhân tham gia trực tiếp cũng như gián tiếp (cán bộ quản lý) trong thị trường tiêu thụ thịt Heo an toàn trên địa bàn Đồng Nai, từ đó có những đánh giá chính xác hơn, sâu hơn về các biểu hiện của những dạng thất bại thị trường đang gặp phải, đồng thời xem xét đến các chính sách hiện đang áp dụng và tác động của thể chế chính sách này đối với lĩnh vực nghiên cứu.
