GNP là toàn bộ giá trị sản phẩm và dịch vụ cuối cùng mà tất cả công dân một nư­ớc tạo ra và có thể thu nhập trong một năm, không phân biệt sản xuất đư­ợc thực hiện trong nư­ớc hay ngoài nư­ớc.

Như­ vậy GNP là thư­ớc đo sản lư­ợng gia tăng mà nhân dân của một n­ước thực sự thu nhập đư­ợc.
