Theo truyền thuyết, xã Phù Linh, huyện Sóc Sơn (Hà Nội) là nơi dừng chân cuối cùng trước khi Thánh Gióng về trời, nên hàng năm cứ ngày mồng 6 tháng Giêng âm lịch, dân làng ở đây mở hội linh đình tại Khu di tích thờ Thánh Gióng – Phù Đổng Thiên Vương. Lễ hội Gióng Sóc Sơn diễn ra trong ba ngày với đầy đủ các nghi lễ truyền thống như: lễ khai quang, lễ rước, lễ dâng hương, dâng hoa tre lên đền Thượng, nơi thờ Thánh Gióng.

According to legend, Phu Linh commune, Soc Son district (Hanoi) is the last stop before heaven Thanh Giong, so every year on the 6th day of the first lunar month, villagers here lavish festival in the park St. Giong monument - Phu Dong Thien Vuong. Giong Soc Son Festival takes place in three full days of traditional ceremonies such as optical ceremony, the procession, incense, bamboo flower offering to the upper temple, a shrine to Saint Giong.
