Theo luật các tổ chức tín dụng của Việt Nam thì NH có thể thực hiện các dịch vụ là:
- Dịch vụ thanh toán: cung ứng các dịch vụ thanh toán, thực hiện dịch vụ thanh toán trong nước dịch vụ thu và chi hộ và các dịch vụ thanh toán khác do NHNN quy định.
- Kinh doanh ngoại hối và vàng.
- Thực hiện nghiệp vụ uỷ thác và đại lý trong các việc liên quan đến NH, kể cả việc quản lý tài sản, vốn đầu tư của tổ chức cá nhân theo hợp đồng
