Những cán bộ YTTB đã qua đào tạo nâng cao trình độ chuyên môn và được tập huấn về kỹ năng truyền thông giáo dục sức khỏe nên họ đã và đang trở thành những nhân tố quan trọng trong công tác CSSKBĐ cho nhân dân và phòng chống dịch bệnh tại cơ sở. Bên cạnh việc vận động người dân đến tham gia các chiến dịch chăm sóc sức khoẻ sinh sản, các buổi tuyên truyền tại các TYT xã hoặc tư vấn lồng ghép trong những buổi họp thôn, bản, các NVYTTB còn trực tiếp đến từng hộ gia đình để tuyên truyền, vận động nhân dân với những kiến thức phòng chống các bệnh có tính chất nguy hiểm như bệnh phong, tim mạch, dự phòng tai biến mạch máu não, tăng huyết áp ở người cao tuổi, phòng chống bệnh tay chân miệng; phòng chống suy dinh dưỡng trẻ em... Nhờ đó đã giúp người dân nắm được những thông tin cơ bản để nâng cao sức khỏe.
