ĐẠI LỄ CẦU SIÊU TẠI NGHĨA TRANG LIỆT SĨ ĐIỆN BIÊN
Kỷ niệm 68 năm ngày Thương binh liệt sĩ 27/7, trong 3 ngày 3-5/7, tại Nghĩa trang Liệt sĩ A1, Ban Trị sự Giáo hội Phật giáo Việt Nam tỉnh Điện Biên đã long trọng tổ chức Đại lễ cầu siêu các Anh hùng liệt sĩ đã hy sinh trong Chiến dịch Điện Biên Phủ và các thời kỳ kháng chiến.

Dự Đại lễ có đại diện lãnh đạo Ban Tôn giáo Chính phủ, Ủy ban nhân dân, Hội đồng nhân dân, Ủy ban Mặt trận Tổ quốc tỉnh Điện Biên, các vị Hòa thượng đại diện cho Trung ương Giáo hội Phật giáo Việt Nam cùng khoảng 7.000 phật tử, cựu chiến binh các thời kỳ kháng chiến từ nhiều địa phương trong cả nước và nhân dân các dân tộc tỉnh Điện Biên.

Trong bài diễn văn khai mạc Đại lễ, Hòa thượng Thích Thiện Nhơn - Chủ tịch Hội đồng Trị sự Trung ương Giáo hội Phật giáo Việt Nam, Phó Chủ tịch Ủy ban Trung ương Mặt trận Tổ quốc Việt Nam nhấn mạnh: Chiến thắng Điện Biên Phủ khẳng định sự lãnh đạo sáng suốt, tài tình của Chủ tịch Hồ Chí Minh, của Trung ương Đảng trong quá trình lãnh đạo nhân dân ta thực hiện ý chí, quyết tâm “Không có gì quý hơn độc lập tự do - Thà hy sinh tất cả chứ không chịu mất nước, không chịu làm nô lệ”...

Cuộc chiến đã qua, đất nước đã hồi sinh, đang phát triển và vươn cao trong thời kỳ hội nhập quốc tế nhưng trong ký ức, đời sống tâm linh của những người Việt Nam, dù ở trong nước hay đang sinh sống ở hải ngoại xa xôi, trong đó có tăng ny, phật tử Giáo hội Phật giáo Việt Nam, luôn tự hào khi nhớ về những chiến tích, những kỷ niệm thiêng liêng của những người thân, những đồng đội, đồng chí và các chiến sĩ đã vĩnh viễn nằm lại trên chiến trường Tây Bắc và các chiến trường khác với lòng kính trọng vô biên".

Tại buổi Đại lễ, Trung ương Giáo hội Phật giáo Việt Nam đã trao tặng nhiều suất quà cho các gia đình có hoàn cảnh đặc biệt khó khăn trên địa bàn tỉnh Điện Biên. Đại diện cựu chiến binh cả nước cũng trao tặng kỷ niệm chương “Bạn chiến đấu 3 chiến dịch lịch sử Việt Nam” có in hình Đại tướng Võ Nguyên Giáp cho các vị Hòa thượng vì các hoạt động tôn vinh các Anh hùng liệt sĩ.

Ngay sau Đại lễ cầu siêu, tại chùa Linh Quang (xã Thanh Nưa, huyện Điện Biên) đã diễn ra Lễ đúc chuông Đại Hồng Chung, do Ban Trị sự Giáo hội Phật giáo Việt Nam tỉnh Điện Biên tổ chức. Đây là quả chuông do các tăng ny, phật tử trong cả nước phát tâm ủng hộ, được đúc ngay tại chân chùa Linh Quang. Sau khi hoàn thành, quả chuông có kích thước khoảng cao 2m, đường kính 1m và nặng 1,5 tấn.
