Tại Sơn Động hiện chưa có Hội Bảo trợ người khuyết tật hay bất kỳ hội nào dành cho người khuyết tật, do vậy mạng lưới cha mẹ/người chăm sóc trẻ khuyết tật chưa được hình thành. Trước thực tế như vậy, dự án đã tạo lập ra nhóm cha mẹ/người chăm sóc trẻ khuyết tật thí điểm tại 03 xã An Lập, Dương Hưu và Long Sơn. Các nhóm cha mẹ sinh hoạt định kỳ với mục đích gặp gỡ, chia sẻ kinh nghiệm, cảm thấy bớt cô đơn trong chăm sóc trẻ khuyết tật, hỗ trợ lẫn nhau trong cuộc sống hàng ngày. Đồng thời, các trẻ có thêm thời gian tập luyện với các trang thiết bị phục hồi chức năng tại trạm y tế trong khi bố mẹ thảo luận.

Để triển khai hoạt động này, tổ chức GTV chọn lọc và tập huấn cho xx cán bộ y tế xã và thôn để hướng dẫn cách điều hành cuộc họp. Đồng thời, dự án đã thiết kế và in tài liệu tranh lật và sổ tay giúp các cuộc họp được diễn ra sôi nổi, có sự tham gia của các bậc phụ huynh
